Can Jordan stop Tyler's life from spinning out of control and save their love for one another, or will tragedy tear them apart? Tyler Curtis is a rock star with a notorious reputation as legendary as his awesome talent, but reality is far different to the myth a controlling manager has built up around him. Jordan Braxton is a website designer, prefers a quiet life, and is ready to settle down with one man. A chance meeting with Curtis turns Jordan's ordered world upside down. Can Jordan stop Tyler's life from spinning out of control and save their love for one another, or will tragedy tear them apart?

The Curtis Reincarnation Zathyn Priest 9781608207794 Books

I never heard of this author before reading this book, but, as a rock-star gay romance junkie, I couldn't wait to dig into it.

And it didn't disappoint. All of the characters were seriously fleshed out, including the two leads, one a brilliant but lonely and depressed rock star, the other a Web designer forced to attend the Tyler Curtis concert by his obnoxious, oversexed, sister. Well, of course, their eyes meet across the footlights and the wonderful journey of Jordan and "Tyler" (real name, Alec) begins.

This is a seriously well-written and engrossing book. It's definitely firmly in the "couldn't--put-it-down" category. At least for me. Instead of the debauched lifestyle one might expect of a world-famous rock star, it turns out that Alec is a virtual prisoner of his management, the press and the fans. It is only Jordan who sees Alec, not "Tyler". And that changes everything.

One of the major obstacles to their happiness is Alec's epilepsy, which strikes at inopportune times, and which has been exacerbated by his evil manager, Frank, withholding his medication to force him to toe the line - and line Frank's pockets. I have written, several times recently, about the "malady-of-the-month" gay romance tradition, which I believe has degenerated into nothing but formula. However, this author treats the problem with such a deep and thorough understanding and compassion that I couldn't help but wonder if he or someone he loves actually suffers from the disorder.

Added to the glitzy backstage drama and machinations are any number of truly moving moments. I'm loath to admit that, even though I'm an older gay man who dislikes blatant sentimentality, I responded to the wedding scene with both laughter and tears.

I can't wait for this author's next Kindle book. I can only hope it's as good as this one.

The Curtis Reincarnation Zathyn Priest 9781608207794 Books Reviews

I loved the short story which this author has on his (or her) website that I went searching for his other books to buy. Eh, it is not a bad story (although I also could not tolerate the sister for the most part), but writing was way over top for me, like really way over the top, especially the angsty parts, and more often than not I was thinking eh who acts and talks like that?

I do not ask for complete realism in romance stories I read, really but I do ask for realistic characters and for realistic reactions to each other, if that makes sense. I did not feel this was the case in this book.

I may give this author a chance in the future, but I will be way more cautious now.
The moment Tyler Curtis strutted on the scene, he swept me off my feet. First as a performer and then as the real man behind the mask. Sweet, gentle, lonely, giving too much of himself, sometimes endearingly naive, but still strong in the face of abuse received from his manager, he definitely is a man worth knowing.

By the age of twenty he has suffered such hardships that it would make a man twice his size crumble. Yet, he carries on and bravely weathers not only the emotional plight but a serious illness as well. Whoever has ever seen an epileptic seizure will immediately understand how heavy his burden is.

Zathyn doesn't shy away from the details. They are important to understand how Alec (Tyler's real name) feels about himself and what terrors he has to face. Fortunately, once Jordan sees the man behind the rock star mask, he knows he wants to be a permanent part of Alec's life and shows admirable devotion through all dangers they encounter. I will not give away the plot, but believe me that things went from bad to worse for them initially for a big part of the story.

I absolutely loved the book. Admittedly, if you don't believe in love at the first sight, you will have hard time to accept that one chance meeting can shatter the world and rebuild it for better. For the rest of us, and especially those who have been blessed with love at the first sight at least once in their life, it is a marvelous reminder that it indeed does exist.
I thoroughly enjoyed this story! It moved along and taking us behind the scenes of the world's most popular and lonely rock star. The author painted a rich picture of the star on stage while giving us the grim story of his life and his manager's verbal and physical abuse.

But when Curtis sees Jordan and vice versa it was love at first sight. It was a pleasant journey of their blossoming love for each other amid the turmoil of intrigue, blackmail and bitter memories for Tyler Curtis. Add to that his physical condition and I feel it is a most touching and well written love story.

Jordan and Alec(Tyler) become inseparable and so the story goes. No disappointments, no flaws IMO.

The only negative (if one could call it that) is I found the Jordan's little sister a bit overdone to the point of insufferable and obnoxious.

but other than that an excellent novel.
I really like Zathyn Priest as a writer, and loved 'The Slayer's Apprentice', and because this book was rated so high elsewhere, I had high hopes. But this book didn't do it for me. The characters felt two-dimensional and their relationship over the top (and not just because of the insta-love). It had me thinking to myself every few paragraphs "this is so unrealistic", which distracted me to the point of not being able to finish it in one or two readings like I do most books. In fact, I still haven't finished it. I gave this three stars instead of two because the writing itself is decent. If you're okay with potentially annoying and flat characters and just want to read it for the plot premise or you're bored then that's fine, but if you're looking for substance maybe look elsewhere...
